Responsible Business - Let's take responsibility
Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of Rezidor's broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. To read more about the RB programme, please go to www.responsiblebusiness.rezidor.com.
Our hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and Rezidor's corporate international charity organisation, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.
Here are some of the Responsible Business activities and achievements of this hotel:
- Cooking with disadvantaged children
The chef and the entire kitchen staff help children who are suffering from the down syndrome to prepare a meal. Special guest e.g. famous German TV-actor Claus Theo Gärtner and Hesse's Prime Minister Roland Koch. In the afternoon the children and their parents celebrated this special day at the Radisson BluSchwarzer Bock Hotel with a party meal.
- Supporting the Children's Team at the
25 hours Wiesbaden Sport Run 2006 (WISPO)
This year the hotel is patronising a team of 33 children at the age of 8 till 13 years during this special long distance run. They have 25 hours to give as much as they can. All generated revenue at this charity event is going to the welfare of all sport teams in the Wiesbaden area.
- Mother of the year contest
"Viva la mamma" - In conjunction with the largest regional TV Station Hessischer Rundfunk (HR), the "Schwarzer Bock" crowned the "Mother of the year": Children from all over Hesse can apply by telling us why their mother is "worlds best". The winning family spends a weekend at the Radisson Blu Schwarzer Bock Hotel in a suite and Mom really gets pampered with flowers and a massage. HR TV is broadcasting "live" from the hotel.
- Healthy cooking at school
Overweight is becoming a severe problem, not only in Germany, already starting at school age. Therefore our chef teamed up with Rotary-Club to go to a primary school fostering a healthy diet for children. Teaching the kids what is important in daily alimentation.
- Cleaning the city for a day
Together with the Department of Sanitation of the City of Wiesbaden, members of the Radisson Blu Schwarzer Bock Hotel cleaned parts in the
city, separating trash and doing all they can to
make Wiesbaden look squeaky clean.
- Supporting Arts and Music
Every summer Wiesbaden turns into a hotspot of classical music during the "Rheingau Musik Festival". As a main sponsor the "Schwarzer Bock" is hosting stars such as Maxim Vengerov, Sarah Chang, Kurt Masur and Sir Neville Marriner as well as Lang Lang, Thomas Hampson and Dee Dee Bridgewater. On top of that we supported under the patronage of the Prime Minister Roland Koch the Youth Symphonic Orchestra of Hesse at their sold out 30 year anniversary concert at the Kurhaus in Wiesbaden.
