Responsible Business - Let's take responsibility
Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of the commitment of The Rezidor Group to sustainable development. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety. To read more about the RB programme, please go to www.responsiblebusiness.rezidor.com.
The hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and the selected corporate international charity organisation of The Rezidor Hotel Group, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.
Here are some of the Responsible Business activities and achievements that exhibit this hotel's commitment to Wiesbaden and its community:
- Cooking with disadvantaged children - The chef and the entire kitchen staff helped children diagnosed with Down Syndrome prepare a meal. In the afternoon, the children and their parents celebrated this special day at the Radisson Blu Schwarzer Bock Hotel with a party meal. Special guests included famous German television actor Claus Theo Gärtner and Hesse's Prime Minister Roland Koch.
- Supporting the Children's Team at the 25-hour Wiesbaden Sport Run 2006 (WISPO)- The hotel has sponsored a team of 33 children, ages 8 to 13, during this annual long-distance run. All generated revenue at this hotel's event benefits Wiesbaden area sports teams.
- Mother of the year contest - "Viva la mamma" - In conjunction with the largest regional television station, Hessischer Rundfunk (HR), the hotel will crown the "Mother of the Year." Children from all over Hesse can apply by explaining why their mother is the "world's best". The winning family spends a weekend in a suite at the Radisson Blu Schwarzer Bock Hotel and the mom is pampered with flowers and a massage. HRTV will broadcast the winning family "live" from the hotel.
- Healthy cooking at school - Obesity is becoming a severe problem in Germany and starts at a young age. Therefore, the hotel's chef teamed up with Rotary Club and visited a primary school to promote healthy dieting for children.
- Cleaning the city for a day - Paired with the Department of Sanitation of the City of Wiesbaden, members of the Radisson Blu Schwarzer Bock Hotel cleaned areas of the city to keep Wiesbaden looking clean.
- Supporting the music and arts - Every summer, Wiesbaden becomes a popular hub for classical music during the "Rheingau Musik Festival." As a major sponsor, the hotel is hosting stars such as Maxim Vengerov, Sarah Chang, Kurt Masur, Sir Neville Marriner, Lang Lang, Thomas Hampson and Dee Dee Bridgewater. Additionally, the hotel sponsored, under the patronage of the Prime Minister Roland Koch, the Youth Symphonic Orchestra of Hesse at its sold-out, 30-year anniversary concert in the Kurhaus in Wiesbaden.
