Radisson Blu Palais Hotel, Wien

Responsible Business - Let's take responsibility

Taking responsibility for the environment and local community has been an important part of Rezidor's broader commitment to sustainable development for many years. In 2001, this commitment was fortified and placed within the scope of a programme called Responsible Business (RB). Each hotel has a unique RB Action Plan covering areas such as community outreach, environmental improvement, employee well-being and health and safety.

All hotels are engaged with both local charity groups and Rezidor's corporate international charity organisation, the World Childhood Foundation. The mission of Childhood is to defend the rights of the child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.

Responsible business practices of this hotel include:

  • December 2006 - School children were invited to decorate gingerbread houses and biscuits that were then sold to the hotel’s clients and staff. They raised about 600 EUR, given to the charity organization "Welt Kinder Vereinigung".
  • July 2006 - The hotel organised a flea market with the collected "lost and found" items. The money raised went to "Save the Children."
  • This hotel supports the "Make A Wish" Foundation, offering complimentary rooms for children and their families who are coming to Vienna to fulfill a child's wish. The hotel also arranges stays for them at the best possible price at any of the European property and offers preferential conditions for their annual charity brunch.
  • The Radisson Blu Palais Hotel, Vienna, supports an association against bowel cancer, offering preferential prices for their annual brunch, or complimentary conference rooms.
  • The hotel supports local associations like "Cliniclowns" or a hospice with financial expenditures, vouchers for their charity events.
  • The hotel management implemented a complete waste separation at the Vienna property (guest rooms, offices, staff cantina).
  • The hotel is currently testing sensors in guest toilets in order to save water. Should the testing show water saving, this sensor will be installed in all guest toilets.
  • After a successful test period in 10 guest rooms, new showerheads were mounted in guest rooms to save water (about 50% savings per shower).
  • The hotel collects old cell phones for a recycling firm. One euro per collected cell phone will be given to a charity organization.
  • Books and magazines, which are found in the rooms after a guest's departure, are regularly brought to the cantina, where the staff can borrow them free of charge.
